The Language of Golf

Golf has become popular with people at all ages. People from teens to retirees, men and women, and all cultures are learning.

Like any sport, hobby, or area of expertise, golf has its own language. We can't perfect your swing using the Internet, but we can help you sound like an expert when you do play. This course provides worksheets and games to help you learn and remember all the jargon.

This course has the following lessons:

  • Golf clubs and what each does.
  • Scoring terms like par, birdie, and bogey.
  • Etiquette issues important to the game.
  • Parts of the golf club to make you sound like an expert.
  • Parts of a golf course to help you when you play.
  • Phrases to say when you play.

Some of the lessons are free to the public.

Lesson Hints:

  • Use the do-flash worksheet to review all the facts.
  • Choose worksheets and games to test your memory.
  • Be sure to choose a game that reinforces learning by typing or writing the words as well.
